On 30 July 1964 the new Pope Paul VI officially announced by Cardinal Ottaviani that Padre Pio was returned every freedom in his ministry.
Also granted the indult to continue to celebrate, even publicly, the Holy Mass according to the rite of St. Pius V, although the Lent of 1965 was implemented the liturgical reform. At the same time, many financial assets managed by Padre Pio were transferred to the Holy See.
